Ephemera - things that exist or are used or enjoyed for only a short time.
The below are types of ephemera items I create that may be included within or with your journal purchase.
Ephemera is unique, bespoke and fun to make and a great way to use up scraps, spares and those itty bits that don't have any other use. All ephemera is handmade by me from scraps, loose ends, notions and added into each journal I create for added interest - it is what makes a junk journal fun, aesthetically pleasing to the eye and one of a kind.
I don't use digital prints other than commercially available scrapbook paper packs and prefer to use unwanted items that include magazines, book pages, music sheets, fabric, napkins, notions and other thrifted goodies I find on my local travels to the local op shops/thrift stores/de-stash markets.
Pen Loops
Handmade pen loops to add to your junk journal and hold your favourite pen or pencil. Made from scrap cardstock (think tissue boxes/food boxes), pretty paper, paper clips, lots of glue and some sewing and embellishing.
Some journals I add one in already, but you can also purchase separately. For my own personal journals, I add 2-3 pen loops so I can have different coloured pens on hand for writing down my notes.
Available at my market stall
from $5.00 each.
Page Hugger Bookmarks
These are a clever idea turning a larger size book page into a page hugging bookmark. The photo doesn't do it justice but you may see some demonstrated in my flip through videos.
Hug over a page corner of your book or journal and you can even snugly stash in extra ephemera or paper - it's like a removable bookmark and pocket all in one.

from $4.00 each.
Embellished Envelopes
Assorted embellished envelopes made from old or thrifted book pages, decoupaged with napkins or other images, washi tape and more.
They always turn out unique, interesting and inviting to the eye.
Scrappy Notepads
I love making these as they are simple, quick and fun. Made from leftover strips of paper from making journal signatures, I grab a bunch, embellish with leftover scrap paper, add a notion, gem or lace then sew or staple and you have a cute little notepad to go.
Every journal I make I try to include it's own scrappy notebad and you can purchase extra. Great for adding one in to each and every page, clutch, book, vehicle you own.

from $2.50 each.
Paperclips
An easy creative way to glam up your paperclips by adding some strips of fabric, thread, ribbon, lace or whatever you have available.
You can also add some beads, jewels or notions that you have on hand.
Napkin Washi Tape
Making your own washi tape is easy and can be a fun project in between creative projects.
Find your paper or napkin of choice and add strips of double sided tape to the back. Then tear each strip of tape with the paper so that you get your own strips of washi tape to use however you like.
Assorted ephemera
From time to time I make a batch of paper crafts such as these and use them as gifts or additional ephemera within a journal.
Postcards
I put these together from thrifted postcards with not so pretty images, added a paper doily and floral or vintage image, added some stitching or edged with my wavy scissors.
Tags
Another fun project to do when in between ideas or running out of creative steam. It uses up that growing pile of paper and fabric scraps. No thinking required, anything goes, lots of gluing and each batch is unique.
Paper and/or Fabric Clusters
Scrap busting fun. No paper, fabric, notion goes to waste when you can make clusters for added embellishment to every journal.
It's a great no thinking project - just grab a few pieces of scrap, maybe a bit of thread, fabric, paper, book page, text, lace, a notion - then glue, sew or staple.
Add some bling if the heart desires.
These make every journal that little bit extra special as every cluster is unique and eye catching.
Bookmark or Journaling Card
Easy to create and a good size to be used as a journal card, book mark or just added interactive decoration.
Using master board concept of using up scraps, gluing onto card stock then cutting to size for whatever you desire.

Paper Houses
I think I'm secretly hoarding these as they are so cute. Every now and again they get added to a journal for a surprise element. They can be used as a book mark, journal topper, gift card, journal card or more.
Writing Boards
These are A5 size and useful for larger journals as they are a firm foundation to put under your page when writing.
They are double sided and made from cardstock, covered in book pages, napkin or both and sealed with a waterproof satin varnish.
For the larger journals with lots of pages I try to include it's own writing board.
Paper Beads
I create these when I'm in the mood for doing something repetive and fidly. They are created from scraps of paper, magazines or book pages - rolled up, glued and let to set.
I then seal/varnish them with glitter nail polish for a bit of sparkle (doesn't quite show in the photos).
I use these as beads when adding charms and dangles to a journal.
